Yes, we got caught up in that horrific east coast storm that slammed our part of VA with over four inches of rain in less than six hours. Yes, our first day’s drive was equally horrific for most of it—pouring rain, thick fog at the mountaintops, and many grades to slow us down to 35 mph. We made it to some nameless town just past Charleston in far western West Virginia where we threw ourselves very late in the evening onto Home Depot’s mercy for some free dry camping in their parking lot. Tonight’s destination: the WalMart in Mt. Vernon, IL.
